KVET (1300 AM), branded as “AM 1300 The Zone”, is an Austin, Texas, radio station operating a Sports format. It is licensed to Austin, Texas, and is owned by Clear Channel Radio. KVET is directional with 5000 Watts to the northwest over the Texas Hill Country during the daytime and 1000 Watts to the south over central Austin at night from a transmitter site just a few miles north of downtown.
Memorial Day approaches, a lot of folks in our area will be on the road this weekend……but with a record amount of road construction planned this summer in North Dakota… the Transportation Department and Highway Patrol are urging drivers to be careful. State Transportation Director Francis Ziegler says the number of work zone crashes last year dropped to 122, from 197 the year before. But he says there have already been 23 such crashes this year. The Highway Patrol’s Jody Skogen says last year, troopers wrote 1,300 tickets in construction zones, and 70 percent were for speeding. He says most work zone crashes are preventable.
