What is Tg (glass transition temperature)?
The Tg (glass transition temperature) of a material is actually a temperature range. It’s typically reported as a specific temperature, at which an amorphous material transitions from a rigid, glassy state to a soft, rubbery state. The Tg of an adhesive is cure dependent; the use of a higher cure temperature can increase Tg. In addition, Tg is test method dependent. Many techniques are available and utilized to measure Tg. A material’s measured Tg can vary by 50°C depending on test method.
