What is tested on the CRNE?
The exam measures the competencies that Canadian nurses have identified as necessary for safe and effective nursing practice. For the 2005-2010 exam cycle, about 190 competencies will be measured. These competencies have been organized into a framework that reflects a primary health care model. A list of the competencies tested on the CRNE is included in the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam Prep Guide Prep Guide and the Blueprint for the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination June 2005 – May 2010. Both of these documents are available for purchase from CNA.
