What is telemark in skiing?
Telemark turns are named after the village in Norway where the technique was reputed to have been developed. The boots are flexible in the sole, unlike Alpine boots. The technique uses weighting the inside ski during a turn and advancing the outside or downhill ski. This is the primary Nordic turn used for centuries in the scandinavian countries. With the heel of the ski boot loose, you are able to walk or run across snow in a more natural manner. Hope this helps.
