TEI Lite is a DTD that includes a small subset of the whole TEI system, selected to include the most commonly used elements. It was designed to demonstrate the mechanism for TEI customization and its usefulness, but it has been widely adopted as a simple TEI application and is currently the most widely used subset of the TEI.
