What is teen pregnancy like in japan ? ?
Teen pregnancy is a lot less common than in the US. In a typical highschool, you might hear one or two rumors at most a year about a girl being pregnant, but not a single confirmed case. Girls who do get pregnant get in big trouble, and usually chooses abortion. Those who choose to not to are usually advised or forced to leave school, but almost always keep the baby. Adoption, too, is less common in Japan than in the US, and is almost unheard of in the case of teen pregrnancy. The idea is, in Japan, a teenage girl discovered to be pregnant risks getting thrown out of school and thus her entire future, so why go through it if she’s going to give the baby up anyway?
