What is taught in the Second Grade Math Program?
The Second Grade Science Curriculum focuses on three broad areas of science: Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science. Life Science • Conduct and report the results of a scientific investigation of a flowering plant, order stages of the life cycle, and match the parts to its function. • Investigate five major classes of reptiles and amphibians and classify given animals according to their characteristics and life cycles. Earth and Space Science • Construct a chart and/or graph tracking weather over a period of time. • Identify atmosphere and know that different weather is created there. • Demonstrate movements of the earth, moon, and sun individually and within the solar system. Physical Science • Demonstrate how forces affect changes in motion of objects and investigate how these forces are incorporated in simple machinery. • Investigate the properties and uses of magnets.
