What is Tampa Electric proposing to build for baseload generation?
Tampa Electric is proposing to build a 632-megawatt Integrated Coal Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) baseload generating unit to be known as Polk Unit 6. The unit would be located at the existing Polk Power Station, site of the existing 255-megawatt IGCC Polk Unit 1. Polk Unit 6 is expected to be capable of providing reliable cost-effective power to more than 164,000 residential customers.
