What is Talipes equinovarus?
• Talipes equinovarus: A congenital foot deformity where the end of the foot is abnormally angled, usually inwards and downwards. It often occurs due to crowding in the womb. The foot is unable to be placed flatly on the ground. Talipes equinovarus is listed as a “rare disease” by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This means that Talipes equinovarus, or a subtype of Talipes equinovarus, affects less than 200,000 people in the US population.
