What is SYSEX?
SysEx is an abbreviation for System Exclusive MIDI messages. These are MIDI messages that are addressed for a particular synth, so you can send these messages and only the correct synth will respond to them. Files which contain only SysEx messages usually have a .SYX file extension. The two main uses for SysEx are 1) Make changes to a synth while a song is playing. 2) Send &/or Receive Patches, Performances, Rhythm kits, etc to and from a synth. SysEx also allows you to access most of the functions of the synth that you can access from the keyboard and buttons via MIDI messages.
