What is synchronous learning?
Synchronous learning is when interaction with your instructors takes place in real time. In a campus-based school, this means attending a physical classroom. In an online environment, it requires that you log in to their classes at a specified time. In its most typical form, it is similar to a chat room.
A. Students are required to log-in to classes at a set time each day or week. The entire class is logged on together and the learning is done in a way that is more similar to a traditional classroom setting. Q. What is asynchronous learning? A. Students log-in to access class information on their own time. Class lectures and assignments are accessed via an online forum or message board anytime, day or night. This class format is more flexible and provides more freedom with scheduling and managing other priorities. Q. Do I have to attend class on campus? A. Not generally. Many campuses offer entirely online programs that require zero visits to the actual campus. Certain campus programs offer blended learning where online courses are offered in tandem with campus courses. Q. How large are online classes? A. Most online classes are small in size, generally under 15 students per class. However, this depends on the college or university and their class structure. Q. What is a virtual classr
Synchronous learning sessions are included in some courses within the D.N.P. program. This means that a student must allow time in their scheduled class day to meet online with faculty and other class members. This time coincides with the scheduled time of class, listed on the Registrar calendar. Absence from synchronous learning is not acceptable, therefore applicants who cannot commit to synchronous learning activities may need to consider another program of study. Synchronous-based courses include approximately 7-8 “live” synchronous learning sessions during the semester.
