What is Swim Team about, why does the pool close for swim team?
The Montgomery Makos Swim Team accommodates a team of 120 members ages 4 to 17. Participation requires attendance at daily practices for one-hour between 8:30am and 11am, Monday through Friday. Also, attendance at 3 of 5 meets, volunteer hours from parents for practices and meets, and the purchase of needed team equipment such as team suit, goggles and swim cap are a necessary part in swim team participation. This is a great opportunity for youth to become stronger swimmers, make friends and have FUN! This team is focused on developing youth into team players, each making a contribution towards the goal and success of the whole team. Although competition is an element in any sport, the goal of the Montgomery Makos is self-improvement of each of it’s members, not on competitive marks and records. Participants must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle, submerge, feel comfortable in deep water and be a current member of the municipal pool. Makos families make up about 20% of our pool membe
