What is surface water and highway drainage?
Surface water and highway drainage is part of the sewerage service we provide to our customers. Surface water drainage covers the removal and treatment of surface water (rainwater) from your site or premises. This includes water that drains from roofs, car parks and other hard standing areas. Removing this water helps to protect your site or surrounding area from damage and flooding. Highway drainage is provided for the benefit of the general public. All our sewerage customers must pay a contribution towards this part of the sewerage service. However, if you can reduce the amount of rainwater that drains into our sewer, you can claim an allowance against your surface water drainage charges.
