What is Sunny Schools?
Sunny Schools is SolarAid’s first UK education programme which aims to address the issues of climate change and solar power within a global dimension. The project will help schools to address these vital issues in an investigative and practical manner, aiming to increase understanding around energy and global citizenship whilst working towards a more sustainable school and community life. Each school nominates a teacher champion to run the programme with an eco group or class. Teachers receive: • a comprehensive training workshop • a practical solar kit (full class set) • an education pack containing interactive and student-led activities, investigations, photos and case studies examining the causes and effects of climate change on a local and global scale, what actions can be taken and how solar power is helping The school also receives an assembly about SolarAid’s work and ongoing support in green activities and campaigns.
