What is substantive civil law?
Substantive civil law regulates the rights and duties owed between individuals. It applies to all citizens and is laid out in the following five parts of the German Civil Code: 1. General Part 2. Law of Obligations 3. Law of Chattels and Property 4. Family Law 5. Succession and Inheritance Law Additionally, there are special civil rights e.g. for certain occupational groups or subject areas.
