What is stump grinding and how is it done?

Stump grinding is when a tree is removed and the stump is left at ground level. The stump grinder will cut down the stump around 6″ below ground level. This will leave a 6″ hole where the stump was which ends up to be filled with dirt and wood chips from the grinder at completion of grinding.
