Governor Quinn has mobilized representatives of all state agencies into an ARRA working group under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. That group meets weekly and its members are tasked with following the progress of applications as they are developed by their corresponding federal agencies – e.g., the Illinois Department of Transportation keeps in close contact with the U.S. Department of Transportation. In many cases, state agencies are the eligible applicants for ARRA funds; in other cases, the state agencies are tasked to communicate with schools, cities, and other eligible funding recipients to make sure they are informed of opportunities and receive as much assistance as is necessary to develop successful applications. We strongly encourage the state’s colleges and universities to work with the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board to find funding opportunities.
