What is standard legality for live trapping?
I am a long time Alaskan hunter and trapper. There is a fine line between live trapping and ‘harassing game animals’. It’s one thing to have a trapping license, trap fur animals when the season is open, kill and skin them. It is a totally different activity to live trap animals, not kill them, and let them loose – this is usually called either harassement or being cruel to them – and it is not allowed under a trapping license. One of the reasons they have laws like this – trapped animals become stressed out. A stressed animal will loose fur – a natural nervious reaction – and will also become dehydrated and hypothermic from the cold and lack of water to drink. Simply ‘letting them go’ isn’t doing them any good……. you need to bring some natural jam or honey and feed it to them on a stick – this will revive their blood sugar levels and give them an added edge on survival when leaving your trap. Highly doubtful you will get them to drink while you are watching them. Sounds like you ar
