What is sports science and coaching studies?
This course covers sports psychology, anatomy, physiology and the experimental, theoretical, contextual and applied nature of coaching and sports development. Key features of the course During your first year modules include: – Biomechanics of Sport and Exercise – Foundations of Sport Psychology – Anatomy and Exercise Physiology – Introduction to Coaching and Sport Development. The second year covers: – Sport Biomechanics and Motor Learning – Emotions and Performance in Sport and Exercise – Sports Physiology – Coaching Skills and Education. The third year covers: – Sports Medicine – Looking at Physiological and Psychological Conditions – Sports Injury (addressing the mechanisms, causes, prevention and rehabilitation of common sports injuries) – ‘Hands-on’ experience of taping and strapping techniques used in immediate treatment of these injuries. The final assessment is an extended research project giving the students the opportunity to focus on a topic of particular interest to them,
