What is Spirituality?
Spirituality points to our interiors, our subjective life, as contrasted to the objective domain of material events and objects. Our spirituality is reflected in the values and ideals that we hold most dear, our sense of who we are and where we come from, our beliefs about why we are here—the meaning and purpose we see in our lives—and our connectedness to each other and to the world around us. Spirituality also captures those aspects of our experience that are not easy to define or talk about, such as inspiration, creativity, the mysterious, the sacred, and the mystical. Within this very broad perspective, we believe spirituality is a universal impulse and reality. We acknowledge that each student will view his or her spirituality in a unique way. For some, traditional religious beliefs will significantly form the core of their spirituality; for others, such beliefs or traditions may play little or no part. Spirituality is that which concerns Infinite Consciousness. First let me make it clear that “spirituality” should not be confused with “spiritualism”, which is concerned with mediums, communicating with the dead etc. Spirituality concerns Infinite consciousness – the same ultimate Truth that was realised by the great spiritual teachers throughout history such as Buddha, Jesus, and Krsna. According to spirituality, the goal of life is to merge the individual mind into Infinite Consciousness, and the way to attain this is by practising spiritual meditation.

Spirituality is a broad term that describes what gives a person meaning and purpose and how one expresses and lives that in their daily life. A person’s spirituality includes one’s values, often but not necessarily derived from religious, cultural, or ethnic teachings and traditions, as well as their own experience. Spirituality includes how one’s values influences and guides one’s decision making, actions and relationships with others, with all of creation, and with the Transcendent (God) . Some would say the purpose of spirituality is about transformation: whether it is individual, corporate, societal, or global transformation. What is generally called ‘spirituality’ is people’s valiant aspirations and attempts towards true self realization which are to varying degrees sent off-course by astral- (‘dark force’-) sourced beliefs in and preoccupations with illusory realities. The dark forces* have also almost universally tricked people into believing / imagining that what is actually their getting more ungrounded is their ‘becoming more spiritual’ or ‘spiritually opening up’, which is regarded in religions and other so-called spiritual traditions as extremely good, beneficial and even virtuous or holy. Sure, it is ‘opening up’ all right, but not in any way you’d want at all if you really understood what’s going on, for when this happens, people are unwittingly opening to ‘the dark side’, which, being replete with deceptions, presents itself as apparently higher realities as well as ‘lower’ ones.
