What is special about Turkish Cotton?
Cotton has been cultivated and used to make fabrics for at least 7,000 years. It may have existed in Egypt as early as 12,000 B.C. The earliest cotton cultivation was in the Mediterranean basin. Turkey has been growing the finest cotton for apparel since ancient times. The cotton used to manufacture the McLoren brand is grown in the legendary cotton producing region surrounding Izmir, Turkey. This is where the worlds finest cotton for the most expensive and exclusive designer jeans is produced. Turkish cotton has extra long fibers that can be spun into yarn using fewer joins, which results in stronger, yet smoother and fluffier single ply cotton yarn. These threads are then woven into the strong, high quality cotton fabrics used to make our Medieval and Viking clothing designs.
