Mexican cuisine is a female cuisine. It is sensual, poetic, lyrical, our dishes have names, not just designations. Our way of cooking has always been determined more strongly by women than by men. I see myself a little in this tradition of female Mexican cooks. You come from a distinguished family of artists, enjoyed an exclusive education, are highly esteemed in your country’s economy, politics and society. How do you use your influence to further the development of Mexican cuisine? I’m a kind of ambassador. I have to admit that I am a bit homesick by now … I only rarely get to stand at the cooker myself. I’m seen in public a lot – I work on TV shows and am currently writing my ninth cookery book.
