What is special about McDonogh 42 Elementary Charter School?
McDonogh 42 Elementary Charter School is governed by the Tremé Charter School Association (TCSA). TCSA is a non-profit school board of local civic leaders who are interested in developing world class public schools in the neighborhoods around Tremé in New Orleans. In November 2005, the state of Louisiana took control of most of the schools in New Orleans. Management of some schools was given to groups of interested citizens who wanted a chance to create their own models of education. TCSA is one of the governance Boards that received a Type 5 charter from the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) in February 2007.
