WHAT IS SPASTICITY AND WHAT ARE SOME OF THE TREATMENTS USED TO TREAT IT ?
Spasticity affects approximately 75% of all MS patients. Spasticity is associated with muscle weakness, with the lower limbs usually more effected than the upper limbs. Spasticity involves underlying weakness and painful extensor and flexor spasms. The legs often completely loose tone and can cause problems associated with ambulation and balance. Treatment for spasticity can include drug therapy and surgery.
