The aim of SPA is to be complementary to what Visa & MasterCard are doing. Visa & MasterCard are issuing EMV specs and the SPA alliance is to work on their implementation. Regarding value added non payment applications: reference guides will be issued for the banks to ease the implementation of these value added non-payment applications to ensure better usage of EMV multi-applications opportunities: needs of the card holders and associated business cases for example.
