What is soft tissue sarcoma?
Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is a malignant type of tumour that may develop in soft tissues, such as fat, muscle, nerve, joint, blood vessel, or deep skin tissues. Sarcoma can occur almost anywhere in the body; occurrence is • approximately 50% in the arms, legs hands or feet (‘the extremities’) • 40% in the chest, back, hips, shoulders or abdomen (‘the trunk’) • 10% in the head or neck.
