What is SOARs position on the proposal?
SOAR has not taken a position on the children’s proposal as there are currently many outstanding, unanswered questions. As with most developments, initial proposals evolve as discussions with key stakeholders – including the residential community – influence and shape them. The SOAR board felt that it was important to reiterate its support for the good work that Children’s does while we work through the questions and issues together. To that end, on August 2, 2007 the SOAR board passed the following resolution: Be it resolved that SOAR: 1) Supports the mission of Children’s Memorial Hospital. 2) Believes that the Children’s Memorial Hospital’s proposal must be reviewed in the context of the neighborhood to which it proposes to relocate. 3) Requests that the City of Chicago not conduct formal hearings on Children’s proposal until there are realistic, actionable plans to address the existing and projected traffic, congestion, and parking problems documented by the institutions. 4) Suppor
