What is so bad about using chemical fertilizers?
Chemical fertilizers can overstimulate the soil microorganisms causing a rapid depletion of the organic matter. Toxic chemicals will also kill the soil dwellers, thereby totally disabling the cycle in which plants provide food for the soil life and the soil life provides food for the plants. Chemical fertilizers also end up getting into the ground water and out into the canals that lead to the Indian River Lagoon which will cause algae to grow extensively and this will block out sunlight for other plants, such as the seagrasses. When they are outcompeted, they will start dying which will cause the food chain to suffer from the bottom up. All because you used chemical fertilizers on your lawns and gardens.
