Silver Tip badger hair is only taken from the very soft neck hair, is the longest and most supple and is typically light tan with dark colored bands at about two thirds of its lenght. However, the tips are lighter in color and the closer the hair was taken to the winter season the lighter it will be. It is the rarest and most expensive because of its softness and light color and scarcity. It only accounts for about 10 percent of the badgers total coat. Silver Tip hair is also the most conical shaped rather than round and has a thick belly high near the point with the root section being relatively thin.
