What is significantly important about the pharaoh Akhenaten (Akhenaton)?
One of the most important things about Akhenaten(Amenhotep IV) is that he was the first person in the world history trying to introduce monotheism. Amenhotep IV became a pharaoh, after Amenhotep’s III death and in the fifth year of his reign he changed his name to Akhenaten, which was beneficial to Aten- the new and only god Akhenaten and his people would worship from now. Akhenaten was trying to overthrow the existing politheistic religion in favor of one, sole god -solar disk-Aten. Although he was brought up in a royal family whose position was strong mostly thanks to the belief that a pharaoh is a live god,a god on Earth,Akenathen rejected all that, worshiping the Aten.
