The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar identifies a day by counting the number of days passed since August 11, 3114 BCE in the proleptic Gregorian or September 6 in the Julian calendar, (−3113) Astronomical dating. Some new age prophets have calculated that using the calendar a cataclysmic event will occur on that date as it represents the end of a cycle or world. Theories include an unspecified event which could be as significant and monumental as the beginning of life on earth, and take this as the end of a cycle to represent the end of life on earth.
