What is sidetone?

Sidetone is the sound of your own voice you hear in a telephone when you speak into the handset mic. This lets you know it is working and gives you an idea of how loudly to speak. The SetCom sends a small amount of Master Station mic signal back to the headphones so that the operator hears the signal being sent to the Remote Station. This is extremly helpful in judging how loudly to speak over background noise.
