What is Shea Stadium best known for?
Shea Stadium was first built as part of the 1964 New York Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadow Park. The concept was devised by Robert Moses, who also was responsible for many improvements to NY at that time, as well as the major builder of the NY worlds Fair. The most famous group to perform there were the Beatles who made their first performance in August 1965. The first expedition game was the Mets against the Pittsburg Pirates.
