What is Shared Reading?
Shared Reading is a very important time where the teacher and children read together. It is designed to be used with young readers to model how we look at and figure out words. Shared Reading starts with Morning News on the SMART Board. We read/discuss important events about our upcoming day together. We also typically read a book or poem on the SMART Board. As an extension of the shared reading experience, we learn important reading skills through songs written on charts. I have just about every skill set to a "catchy" song because research has demonstrated the positive effects of music on learning oral/written language. Here are some research examples: *G.C.
