What is “shared” in carsharing?
Use of cars is shared in the same way as DVD in video rental store or books in a library are shared. A member can check out a car and have exclusive use of it for a while. And then they put it back, and the next person can get it. The users share a responsibility to treat what they borrow carefully and to follow the lending rules and to pay for their use, through taxes (public libraries) or rents and fines (if they break the rules).
