What is Seva?
Seva is to serve freely with love and compassion (To be ‘in service’). We are in service to the earth, the universe, spirit and also each other our earthFIRE family. Some ways you can be of service are: • Offer food and water to the drummers. Take care to move in the same direction as those circling, and to keep water off drum skins. • Spend some time tending the fire. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect and medicate with the fire, which is the heart of the community. • Smudge at the portal or restock the food altar. • Hold space around the perimeter of the circle. Shake a rattle or hold you arms out to the sides, hands open. This helps support those inside the circle and contains the energy. • Offer support to others in the Grounding Zone. You might give a foot massage to a dancer, or a hand or shoulder rub to a drummer. • Care for the space around the fire by picking up litter, sticks or stones underfoot, or return unattended instruments.
