What is seroma?
Dr.Aslani: Seroma is a fluid collection underneath the abdominoplasty skin flap. It is clear also having a yellowish colour and sometimes drains through the suture line. The yeloowish colour often makes patients think they deal with infection but this is notthe case. In extensive abdominoplasties, such collections may be quite large, and require aspiration. This as such is not dangerous, but maybe distressing for patients and can introduce infection. Best prevention is to wear commpression garments as instructed.
