WHAT IS SECTION 8 PROJECT BASED HOUSING?
Housing Authority managed apartments intended to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing to low income families. Under the project-based voucher program, the assistance is tied to the Housing Authority managed unit, a family who moves from the project-based unit does not have any right to continued housing assistance. However, they may be eligible for a tenant based voucher when one becomes available. HUD pays the difference between 30 percent of family income and the gross rent for the unit. The tenant pays 30% of the annual adjusted income.
