WHAT IS SEAFOOD?
The Philippines is blessed with abundant harvest from the sea; that is why most Filipinos love seafood. Seafood is any living creature found in the sea that is suitable for eating. This includes fish, shellfish (includes mollusks and various crustaceans) and seaweeds. In Gen. Santos City, Cotabato, you would find the best tuna products like tuna sashimi, tuna belly, tuna cubes, tuna jaw (panga). In other parts of the country, the harvest includes crabs, crablets (alimasag) bangus, bangus belly, tilapia, squid, abalone, octopus, tangigue and other large and small fishes. Through modern canning methods, Philippine seafood products are now made available to people all over the world.
