According to some of these authors of Witchcraft and Magick… *Silver RavenWolf defines “Scrying- a divination method using specific tools such as a bowl or inked water, a mirror, crystal ball etc. where the diviner “sees” either normal visual pictures or information without any pictures at all.” (To Ride a Silver Broomstick, pg. 24) *Doreen Valiente, “Scrying is an old word for the practice of crystal-gazing or using some similar means to obtain clairvoyance. It is akin to the word ‘descry,’ which originally meant to reveal, as well as discover by seeing.” (An ABC of Witchcraft, pg. 300) *Raymond Buckland opens his discussion on scrying by saying, “scrying is a fascinating practice in that it enables you to literally ‘see’ the future (past or present). Almost any reflective surface can be used for scrying (pronounced to rhyme with ‘crying’).
