What is Scottish Highland Dance?
This ethnic dancing is from Scotland. Students develop self-discipline and confidence as they learn to tackle the physical demands if Highland Dancing. The tremendous strength, stamina, and technical precision that accomplished dancers exhibit on stage comes from years of training and practice. Unlike other dance forms, highland dancing is organized around competitions that keep students motivated as they progress through the various levels. Primary level is for ages six and under. The Beginner level is for ages 7 and above. After the dancer has placed a third or higher at six competitions, they move into the Novice level. After the dancer has placed a third or higher at six competitions, they move into the Intermediate level. Dancer must remain at the Intermediate level for one year regardless of how much they compete, then the dancer moves into the Premier level. It is in the Premier level that the dancer can compete in Championships on both the national and international level. Pers
