What is Schoolwide Enrichment and how will it impact my child?
The Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) is a program in its fourth year at Fairfield. It was a great success over the past few years thanks to the tremendous parent and teacher support! The model, designed by researchers Joseph Renzulli and Sally Reis, encourages enrichment opportunities because of the belief that “a rising tide lifts all ships.” At Fairfield, we now have the Magnet program in addition to SEM. The classroom teachers and myself collaborate on higher level thinking activities and extensions to add to the curriculum for all students. We also work to differentiate learning opportunities so that more students’ needs are being met.
