What is Scheuermanns Disease and how does it affect an adolescent?
It is back pain it is common in teenagers.It is also called adolescent round back for unknown reasons certain vertebral bodies undergo changes resulting in more or less wedge shaped formation. usually several vertebrae of the back are affected at the same time.In the active stage of the disease there is pain associated with round back.this so called disease is not serious.it is a self-limited condition which lasts about two tears.Treatment is mainly symptomatic and usually does not involve more than restriction of activity and back muscle exercises.In sever cases a period of bed rest followed by the wearing of a spinal brace.
