What is Scafell Pike like?
Scafell Pike, at 978m, is the highest mountain in England and is located in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. The ascent of the Pike is most often attempted from Wasdale Head at the north end of Wastwater. On summer weekends, crowds of people can be found attempting this steep walk. As the highest ground in England, Scafell Pike naturally has a very extensive view, ranging as far as Snowdonia. Expect cloud, though, at the summit and an arguably more difficult descent that ascent – Scafell Pike can be slippy on the way down, especially if it has rained.
