Since 2006, the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) has been actively engaged in outreach and has partnered with a number of internal and external organizations to help inform residents of the availability of food stamp benefits and how to apply for them. On January 27th, 2009, the Board of Supervisors directed HHSA to identify ways to simplify the Food Stamp Program and seek funding to establish an incentive program to purchase fruits and vegetables. Based on the Board’s directive, HHSA is developing potential new strategies and partnerships.
