What is salt peter and why does the Army need it?

Salt Peter is a substance supposedly put in the food of military men to keep them from being sexually aroused. This is an old urban Legend. THE TRUTH When in Military boot camp your senses are overwhelmed and some of the desires and “feelings” are greatly reduced to cope with new mental issues. Under periods of stress many individuals have a reduced sexual drive among other physical anomalies. Military Men have used this as an excuse to explain a loss of sexual drive and quite frankly not getting an erection as easy as they might have in their old civillian life.

True or un-true about Army using Salt Peter…I don’t know…However I do know that Salt Peter is used in cooking. Have personally used it cooking Briskets…ie: half tsp disolved for a 5-6lb brisket…I would purchase it at peoples/cvs…
