What is SAI Platforms approach to sustainable production and consumption?
SAI Platform is strictly aimed at encouraging the development of sustainable agriculture worldwide. In effect, long-term availability of agricultural products is fundamental for both the food industry and consumers. Thus, we need to start by addressing this issue. As far as sustainable consumption is concerned, other initiatives are being developed (e.g. by UNEP, focussing on a wide range of issues, including sustainable production). Individual companies which are members of the Platform generally take part in a number of programmes that tackle sustainability at other stages of the food chain.
