SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is the standard measurement of air conditioning efficiency established by the U.S. Department of Energy. What does this mean to you? Higher SEER ratings equate to greater energy efficiency, which means lower summer cooling bills. The most important thing to remember is the higher the SEER rating, the more money you save in operating cost. The current minimum standard is 10 SEER The Department of Energy has established 13 SEER to be the minimum standard beginning in the year 2006.
