Natural rubber is made from trees. Synthetic rubber is made from petroleum and/or coal. But everything I find still says not to use petroleum based lubricants on rubber. If you’ve used it and it worked, then I would say it’s ok to use. It just hit me funny when they said to use it because I’ve always thought of petroleum eating rubber. Since there are different kinds of rubber, then I see where it is possible for it to be ok. Just don’t use Vaseline on latex rubber kiddies.
