Rookies is a great way for kids to learn lifesaving skills while having fun and keeping fit at the same time. Rookies is the perfect training ground for our lifeguards of the future and also provides opportunities to get into lifesaving competitions. Rookies is a lifesaving club for children. It is aimed at 8-12 year olds to provide a fun and safe way to learn lifesaving skills and water safety. It is a natural progression from formal swimming lessons and is now integrated in the ASA’s National Plan for teaching swimming. Children can join at any age from 8 upwards and progress through the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Each stage is roughly 1 school term and a pupil can enter the scheme at any point and progress at their own rate.
